About our school...

Primary School “Kosta Đukić” is located in the beautiful surroundings of Selters Spa, approximately two kilometers from the city center, on the main road leading to Kragujevac.
The school is named after the distinguished World War II fighter Konstantin – Kosta Đukić..

Konstantin Kosta Đukić

Konstantin Kosta Đukić was born in 1912 in Mladenovac, to his father Svetozar, a traditional shoemaker from Nemenikuće, and his mother Anka (Bela) Obradović from Međulužje. He completed primary school in Mladenovac and attended grammar school in Palanka, Kragujevac and Niš, and later the Teacher Training School in Aleksinac and Jagodina.

Kosta was the first member of the Communist Youth League (SKOJ) in the Kosmaj region. He worked as a teacher in Velika Krsna (1934/36), and after completing his military service, from which he was discharged as a reserve officer, he served in Srednji Egri and Breznica. In 1941, he was a teacher in Mladenovac and Koraćica. He participated in all teachers’ congresses and attended three teacher training courses: in Ivanjica in 1938, Asamata in 1939, and Sijarinska Banja in 1940.

Dimitrije Bajalica, Minister of Agriculture and President of the Cooperative Union of Yugoslavia, said about him:

“Kosta was the most educated teacher I have ever met.”

Kosta was also musically educated. In Srednji Egri, he prepared an excellent children’s choir, which performed on Radio Belgrade in 1938. After returning from Belgrade, he organized concerts of that choir in Mladenovac, Aranđelovac and Kragujevac.

In 1941, Kosta was appointed secretary of the first party cell in Mladenovac during the war. In October 1941, he joined the partisans on Mount Rudnik. He was killed by German forces in Han-Pijesak in 1942 as a fighter of the First Proletarian Brigade.

Primary School “Kosta Đukić” began operating in 1968. In addition to the main school, Primary School “Kosta Đukić” also includes branch schools/divided departments in Markovac, Međulužje, Pružatovac, Velika Ivanča and Koraćica.
