Social sciences

The Social Sciences Professional Council includes history, geography, civic education, and religious education. Through these subjects, students learn about the past, the space in which they live, relationships in society, the rights and responsibilities of the individual, as well as spiritual, moral, and cultural values.

The curriculum encourages the development of critical thinking, responsibility, tolerance, and respect for diversity. Students are trained to analyze different sources, understand the causes and consequences of social phenomena, collaborate with others, and actively participate in the life of the school and community.

History

Through history lessons, students learn about the development of human society from ancient times to the modern era. They learn to understand the chronology, causes, and consequences of historical events, and to use a variety of sources — written documents, maps, photographs, objects, and testimonies.

Special attention is paid to national and general history, cultural heritage, developing awareness of one's own identity and respect for different peoples and cultures. History is studied from the fifth to the eighth grade in the main school and a separate class in Velika Ivanča. The available annual school schedule shows that history classes are organized in classes in both school buildings.

Geography

Geography education connects knowledge about nature, population, settlements, economy and different parts of the world. Students are trained to read maps, navigate in space, interpret data and understand the relationship between humans and the natural environment.

Through the study of Serbia, Europe and other continents, students develop awareness of spatial differences, natural resources, environmental protection and the interconnectedness of people and space. Geography is studied from the fifth to the eighth grade in the home school and Velika Ivanča.

Civic Education

Civic education encourages students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills important for responsible participation in school and community life. Through discussions, workshops, research and project activities, rights and responsibilities, cooperation, tolerance, non-violent communication, democratic decision-making and respect for diversity are addressed.

Within the framework of subject teaching, the program is implemented for students from fifth to eighth grade who have opted for this elective program, in the home school and a separate class in Velika Ivanča.

Religious education

Religious education enables students to become familiar with the foundations of faith, spiritual and moral values, holidays, customs, and cultural and historical heritage. The education encourages responsibility, solidarity, respect for others, and the development of a culture of dialogue.

As part of the curriculum, it is implemented for students from fifth to eighth grade who have opted for this elective program, in their home school and a separate class in Velika Ivanča.

From classroom to subject teaching

In separate classes in Koracica, Koracica Meadows, Medjulužje, Markovac and Pružatovac, classes are organized from the first to the fourth grade. During this period, students acquire basic knowledge about the past, society, space and environment through the subjects The World Around Us and Nature and Society.

From the fifth grade, this knowledge is expanded and systematized through special subjects History and Geography, which are implemented in the main school and a separate department in Velika Ivanča. The curricula for the fifth and sixth grades, as well as for the seventh and eighth grades, are part of the current system of teaching and learning plans, which was further amended in 2026.

Learning through exploration and activities

In addition to regular classes, students expand their knowledge of history and geography through projects, thematic classes, work with maps and historical sources, quizzes, exhibitions, excursions and competitions. School documents also record the work of the history and geography section, as well as the participation of students in competitions in both subjects.
